Description of Work:

"Speak Volumes" is an electroacoustic fixed media piece created by Miriama Young in 1998. The work weaves together fragments of spoken memories with archival tape recordings from a childhood radio show, reflecting on the nature of memory and its impact on shaping identity. The piece features extraneous qualities intentionally woven into the fabric of the composition, including hiss and click, as a way to integrate the archive into the contemporary listening moment. The work is 9 minutes long and features spoken voice with electronic sounds. "Speak Volumes" has been performed in multiple events such as "Experiments in Sound" and "Voices in the Air".
