Influenced by the musical resonances within Palásti's poem, Young embarks on an endeavor to encapsulate the rhythmic ebb and flow of the tide, evoking the image of an erratic metronome. These elements, in their steadiness and unpredictability, serve as symbols for a pulsating heart filled with longing. Panni Palásti's generous contribution of her beautifully crafted poem has been instrumental in shaping this work.
The composition begins with captivating, solitary vocals. As the piece progresses, a piano gradually emerges, complementing the haunting motifs in the lower register and introducing delicate melodic fragments in the upper registers.
Despite its sparse structure, the piece is punctuated by occasional flourishes of the piano, adding depth and complexity. In a profound interplay of sound, dissonance is expertly juxtaposed with harmony, offering moments of relief within the composition. This subtle balance paints an emotive sonic picture, reflecting the poem's inherent rhythmic and emotional nuances.
